If you are looking for a suitable type of hair removal system, you can rest assured in knowing that there are many options available to you among both temporary and permanent methods, and depending on your budget, available time, and personal preference, you should be able to narrow the field down among the available choices and decide on the one that works best for you.

Hair types on our bodies vary and will affect the choice of hair removal process. Vellus is the tiny hair that is colorless and not visible until you get close enough to kiss. Intermediate hair is slightly colored, though not fully pigmented and terminal hair is the hair that shows up in full bloom; this is generally what consumers want removed. Most often, time requirements will dictate the choice; other factors, such as location, availability of practitioners, personal grooming skills, and one’s budget also are significant elements in fitting hair removal into a busy and frantic lifestyle.

What are my Options?
Temporary or semi-permanent hair removal methods range from hair growth inhibitors to hair removal/inhibiting creams and depilatories as well as rotary epilators, tweezing, sugaring, and waxing. Hair removal creams, or depilatories, chemically dissolves hair at the skin surface. Bodily reactions and discomfort can be a disadvantage in using these, although the growth inhibiting products seem to be more benign. The other “mechanical” methods listed above pull the hair shaft and follicle out giving longer-lasting results ranging from several days to two weeks or so. These can be painful procedures and irritating to the skin, as well, and require a minimum hair length and some effort in stretching the skin to avoid pinching

The most popular permanent hair removal systems are electrolysis and laser hair removal. Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal system which considered as being a method of separating closely bonded elements by passing an electrical current through them; in other words, an electrical current is used to remove the desired hair from a designated area of the body. It is considered a safe and effective method of hair removal, and is an alternative to laser hair removal, if desired. Laser Hair removal is specific light at a designated wavelength, emitted from a handpiece onto the skin. It targets dark material (usually hair pigment) and takes effect by causing thermal and/or mechanical damage to the hair follicle while leaving surrounding tissues relatively unaffected. Pulsed Light techniques have emerged using high-intensity light of different wavelengths; these have shown mixed results and varied permanence

Making The Choice
As you can see, each type has its pluses and minuses. Your wisest approach is to become knowledgeable about the hair removal technicians and clinics in your area. Calling on them, looking at the facility, and discussing your concerns and asking thoughtful questions can ease any fears you may have and give you a realistic picture of what to expect in whatever technique is chosen. A pleasant and successful hair removal experience is what everyone is seeking; the smoother skin and more attractive appearance as well is the desired end result.
